Do we like olive oil?
Of course, we love olive oil!
Olive oil is a fat liquid obtained from olives /fruit of Olea europaea/ a traditional tree of the Mediterranean.
The oil is produced by pressing whole olives. It is commonly used in cooking, whether for salad dressing or frying. It is also used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, soaps… There is limited evidence of its possible health benefits.
The olive is one of three core food plants in Mediterranean cuisine.
Olive trees have been grown around the Mediterranean since the 8th millennium BC. The largest producer of olive oil is Spain, followed by Greece and Italy.
However, per capita national consumption of Olive Oil is highest in Greece ;
